First 3X3 Leader Course hosted in Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf is the main city of North Rhine-Westphalia, and as a major metropolis, it hosts a lot of sport and non-sport activities. It's a beautiful city with many events, food markets, diverse cultures, sports, and parties.
While Düsseldorf is known for its various activities and diverse cultures, the river rhine and it’s bridges are one of the landmarks of the city. With being in the center of Düsseldorf, we choose to hold our first 3X3 Leader Course in Düsseldorf under one of those bridges. This beautiful location features a basketball and a soccer field and has already an existing community of young people who are using this location as a meeting point for outdoor activities in the summer.
Over eight weeks, we introduced something new to the kids, educating them to be role models in their neighborhood. They learned how to think like leaders, build a community, provide positive feedback and serve as role models. Twelve different people with unique backgrounds, characters and stories participated for eight weeks, guided by three facilitators: Petra, Konrad and Justin.
After we finished this first 3X3 Leader Course in Düsseldorf with an impressive end event with a lot of people and a great atmosphere, we managed to guide the community with the leaders in front throughout the year and maintain constant 3x3 activity.
We are proud to celebrate one year of activation with our four most active leaders, who have shown significant improvement and are actively creating a bigger and safer space. They enjoy their roles and are proud of themselves for stepping up and playing such an important role in our community.
Every week, our leaders participate in community meetings where they conduct their activities. This process has been ongoing for almost a year, and in the last six months, our community has grown to include over 80 kids.
