The Rabo 3x3 Street League: from local courts to the 3X3 Festival at the NDSM-werf

Have you already formed your own team, and do you dare to take on other 3x3 basketball players from your neighbourhood or city? You can during the Rabo 3x3 Street League: the most accessible 3x3 event in the Netherlands, in which teams can participate for free. The winners will play in the finals at the 3X3 Festival at the iconic NDSM-werf in Amsterdam.

With the Rabo 3x3 Street League, 3X3 Unites brings 3x3 basketball back to its roots. Back to the courts in neighbourhoods across the Netherlands. From Groningen to Vlissingen and from Amsterdam to Oss. In 21 districts and across 28 playing locations in total. “We bring the courts that municipalities have built in recent years to life in a unique way”, says Femke Akerboom on behalf of 3X3 Unites.

During the Rabo 3x3 Street League, teams from the same city or neighbourhood compete against each other in different categories over three weekends. Teams under 13 are mixed. There are also categories for boys and girls under 15, under 18, and 18+. The events take place on May 20 and 21, May 29 and 30, and June 5, 6 and 7.

The winners of the Rabo 3x3 Street League in their city or neighbourhood qualify for the finals. These will take place at the 3X3 Festival, in the weekend of June 19 to 21. Location: the iconic NDSM-werf in Amsterdam. At the same time, the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters and the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series presented by Rabobank will also take place there. It is no coincidence that the motto of 3X3 Unites is: “From the streets to the top.”

“It’s great that everything comes together at the 3X3 Festival and offers young people the unique opportunity to actively be part of an event at world level”, says Femke. “They get to show their skills there and compete against each other, while just a bit further away the best 3x3 basketball players in the world are facing off.

”But the Rabo 3x3 Street League is about more than just basketball. During the event, young people get the chance to show their talents. They also meet other young people and build new connections. “During the games it’s very competitive, but afterwards it’s mainly just a lot of fun”, says Kenneth Bromley Bosch. “I really made new friends.”

Kenneth participated in the 3x3 Street League for the second time last year and, to his own surprise, won the tournament, after which he and his team were allowed to take part in the 3x3 PRO Cup. “How cool is that? I never thought that from a small street tournament I would reach the highest level in the Netherlands. It felt like a huge reward.

”For Kenneth, it was a no-brainer to join the Rabo 3x3 Street League. “The basketball season is over by then and it’s just a really great event”, he says. “The sun is shining, it’s outdoors, a lot of people come to watch, and you can just enjoy playing basketball. What more could you want?

”The Rabo 3x3 Street League takes place at locations and cities across the Netherlands. The event is organised by 3X3 Leaders: young people who have completed the 3X3 Leader Course. “It’s great to meet all kinds of 3X3 Leaders and see what they do”, Kenneth concludes. He is currently as a 3X3 Leader also doing an internship at 3X3 Unites himself.

So put on your shoes, gather your friends and join the RABO 3X3 Street League 2026!
