Day One Recap: "There’s an Amazing Festival Vibe"

Jesper Jobse looked back with satisfaction on the first day of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters and the very first edition of the 3x3 Women’s Series in the Netherlands. “It’s awesome that we’re not only hosting the best male, but also the best female 3x3 basketball players—and giving them the same stage,” said Jobse.

The tournament director was pleased to see both Dutch women’s teams (the Netherlands and Netherlands U25) qualify for the quarterfinals. “I’m really looking forward to Saturday. Hopefully, at least one Dutch team makes it to the final so we can celebrate with a proper Dutch party.”

This year marks the first time the World Tour Masters and the 3x3 Women’s Series are being held at the NDSM Wharf. But there’s more—celebrating the 750th anniversary of the city of Amsterdam, the venue also plays host to Urban Sports Week Amsterdam. “The location has such a cool vibe.”

In addition to 3x3 basketball, visitors can enjoy freerunning, breaking, skateboarding, inline skating, BMX, and dance. Jobse said, “Even on day one, I saw a really diverse crowd. There’s definitely a festival atmosphere here—where elite sports, culture, and music all come together. There’s something for everyone.”

Saturday also marks the start of the men’s tournament, with Team Amsterdam and Worthy de Jong among those hitting the court. “It’s great that starting Saturday, the men’s and women’s competitions are integrated. I think that creates an incredible energy,” said Jobse. “On top of that, there’s a great vibe all around—and the weather’s looking good, too.”
