3X3 Leader Course

3X3 Leader Course

The power of 3x3

The power of 3X3 lends itself ideally to developing personal growth. In 3X3, there is no coach who has direct influence on the field. Thus, players must truly take ownership and responsibility for everything that happens there. Players need to be able to communicate well with fellow players. A plan must be made and executed as well as possible. Players must be able to switch gears quickly and deal with setbacks, because a game only lasts 10 minutes and several are played on a game day.

Based on the DNA of 3X3, 3X3 Unites in cooperation with the Dutch Basketball Federation has developed the level 2 instructor training to become a 3X3 Leader, the 3X3 Leader Course. This course is certified by the NOC*NSF. It is also the first and only recognized training for street basketball worldwide.

During this eight-week course we teach young people, among other things: knowledge about 3X3 as a sport and as a tool, community building, being/being a role model, positive coaching, one-on-one contact with young people and organizing their own event.

In addition, we teach the youth to recognize these Life Skills learned on the field through 3X3 in others and reward applying them well. Some examples of important Life Skills that are offered during the training are:

  • Collaborate
  • Persevere
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Self-confidence
  • Acceptance
  • Reflecting on own behavior
  • Connecting with each other
  • Having fun
  • Dealing with authority

After earning the 3X3 Leader diploma, young people are awarded the title 3X3 Leader. A 3X3 Leader is someone who takes responsibility for their own behavior and the impact they can make on the immediate community.
For example, 3X3 Leaders commit to their local courts. They are from then on responsible for organizing activities and events on this court, enthusing and attracting the local community to participate in it, but also guarding the quality of 'their' court.

For 3X3 Leaders who show initiative there is the possibility to further develop their personal talents to 3X3 Instructor but also within other disciplines in the organization of 3X3 Unites or in our network of partners.
