3X3 Leader Courses: young people develop their skills and build communities

From youth in asylum seeker centers to dedicated club members and energetic girls: the participants in the 3X3 Leader Courses come from different backgrounds and have different stories, but they share the same goal. They want to develop their life skills and become role models in their communities. Something special is happening all across the Netherlands: from community building in Groningen to learning teamwork in Arnhem, and from organizing a final event in Utrecht to a life skills workshop in Heerhugowaard. Here’s an overview of the 3X3 Leader Courses in October.

GRONINGEN
During the Leader Course in Groningen, the main focus is on community building and organizing the end event. The 14 participants come from different backgrounds but have formed a very close-knit group. They have gone out for dinner together and attended Dusan’s workshop at 3X3 Unites. The end event is coming up soon!

HEERHUGOWAARD
In Heerhugowaard, eight young people are following the 3X3 Leader Course, focusing on building the community and getting to know each other. The highlight was the chaotic and hilarious “Collectors Game” during the Lifeskills workshop, full of balls, cones, and short scuffles. The energy was unmatched. The group is now preparing for the end event.

ARNHEM
In Arnhem, the 12 participants of the 3X3 Leader Course are getting familiar with the rules of 3x3 basketball. They have just started and are mainly focusing on teamwork and getting to know each other better. 3x3 basketball naturally provides great tools for this, as you need to work together to achieve results. The energy is already visible on the court.

UTRECHT
Building confidence and learning how to lead a group are the main themes during the 3X3 Leader Course in Kanaleneiland, Utrecht. The group of around 9 - 10 participants is a mix of basketball club members and youth from the local AZC. A strong sense of unity and connection is growing between the club players and the AZC youth. The end event is scheduled for November.

NIEUWEGEIN
In Nieuwegein, the 3X3 Leader Course took place with seven enthusiastic participants. The focus was on building a strong and safe group dynamic, so that everyone felt welcome. The sense of community in the group improved throughout the course, which was wonderful to see. The end event took place on November 15.

GIRLS ONLY AMSTERDAM
In Amsterdam, eight energetic girls are taking part in the Girls Only 3X3 Leader Course. The goal is to lower barriers and create a comfortable atmosphere so the girls enjoy participating. During the “teamwork” workshop, participants discovered how to work together, build a community, and act as role models themselves. The end event is scheduled for December 4.
