Get active at the 3X3 Summer Camps or other events
The 3X3 Summer Camps have grown into an annual event and are organised by 3X3 Leaders themselves. These are free events where young people can participate during their holidays, before they return to school and the new regular basketball season begins.
Quincy Winter organised the 3X3 Summer Camp in North. On Saturday 25 July, young people under the age of 18 were the first to take part in the afternoon. They first received a clinic and then played games against each other. Later that day, it was time for participants over the age of 18. They played a tournament.“
Of course, having fun is the most important thing, but I also think it is great to see that you can really teach young people something in a short period of time. During the clinics, we try to teach them new things, and sometimes you can already see that reflected in the games. That is really cool. They also visibly gain more confidence in their own game.”
In between playing basketball, Quincy chatted with the young people and the parents watching from the sidelines. “Some of them asked what 3X3 Unites actually is. I enjoy telling them what we do and what we stand for. The Summer Camps are about much more than basketball, such as building a community and taking ownership.”
In Amsterdam Southeast, the 3X3 Summer Camp is just around the corner. On 3 and 10 August, the Paper Dome will be the setting for free 3x3 clinics and a 3x3 tournament. “It is important that we stay connected with our community during the holidays and that young people can continue meeting each other or create new connections”, says Mike Nasibdar, who organises the 3X3 Summer Camp at the Paper Dome.
During the 3X3 Summer Camps at the Paper Dome, several clinics are given and games are played against each other. “It is simply a really fun day, the atmosphere is always great”, says Mike. “In previous years, young people from outside Southeast also participated. Some bring friends from places like Amstelveen, for example. It is great that young people get to meet other young people through 3x3 basketball in this way.”
Other events
The 3X3 Summer Camps are not the only events that 3X3 Unites is organising in the coming weeks.
3X3 Unites is organising three events in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Groningen. These events are part of Rabobank’s Straatsport activation campaign, in collaboration with FC Straat and 3X3 Unites. Together, they organise street sports events on courts and fields in major cities, where people can play basketball or football. A place where everyone is welcome to join in, meet others, have fun and discover what makes street sports so special. Because it is precisely there that you learn how to play together, persevere and get back up after setbacks.
The 3X3 Unites events will take place on:
- Saturday 22 August: Amsterdam Southeast – Kraaiennest basketball court
- Sunday 6 September: Utrecht Overvecht – Zambesidreef
- Saturday 19 September: Groningen – Grote Markt

The 3x3 Legacy Art Court is an initiative of 3X3 Unites, in collaboration with Amsterdam Street Art, Amsterdam South District, the Municipality of Amsterdam and artist Munir de Vries. The intention is for the Legacy Art Court to be maintained for at least five years and remain part of Museumplein, one of Amsterdam’s best-known and most iconic locations.
