Team Amsterdam and Team Landsmeer crowned 3X3 Pro League 2025 champions

With a vibrant and thrilling final day, this season of the 3X3 Pro League came to an exciting close. In the men’s competition, Team Amsterdam claimed the national title, while Team Landsmeer was crowned Dutch champion in the women’s 3x3 basketball division. In addition, there were several side events organized and led by the 3X3 Leaders.

Once again this year, 3X3 Unites and the Netherlands Basketball Federation organized the 3X3 Pro League: a professional 3x3 basketball competition where the best players in the country face off against each other. The qualifying rounds of the 3X3 Pro League consisted of five one-day events held across the Netherlands.

The winners of these qualifiers secured a spot in the finals, which took place last weekend at Hoekenrodeplein near Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena. Alongside the national 3x3 title, both the men’s and women’s competitions also offered a ticket to a major international tournament. As the players battled it out on the court, the DJ kept the energy high with music, while the crowd cheered passionately.

In the men’s competition, Team Amsterdam, who had received a wildcard for the finals, lived up to their status as favorites, although it didn’t come easy. “You can really see that the level of 3x3 basketball in the Netherlands keeps improving,” said Olympic champion Jan Driessen, a member of Team Amsterdam.

It was a tough fight for Team Amsterdam to get through the group stage, but in the end, they managed to capture the Dutch title, much to Driessen’s delight. On top of the national championship, they also secured a ticket to the World Tour in Lausanne in mid-august. “We want to play as many World Tour events as possible, so winning that ticket was really important for us,” Driessen added.

For many visitors, Team Amsterdam was a major attraction, noted Daud Bwefar, project manager at 3X3 Unites and coordinator of the Pro League. Alongside Driessen, Olympic champion Worthy de Jong was also present - although this time only as a spectator.

Another notable team at the finals was Team STARBORN. A few weeks ago, they won the Street League and also competed in two Pro League qualifiers. The team truly embodied the motto of 3X3 Unites: from the streets to the top. Olympic champion Jan Driessen agreed: “What’s so great about this concept is that you can start with a few friends in a lower-level tournament and work your way all the way up to the World Tour.”

In the women’s competition, Team Landsmeer captured the national title after a nail-biting final against Team Amsterdam. “In both the semifinals and the final, we were trailing by a wide margin. But we kept believing in each other and stuck to our game. That’s how we were able to turn the games around,” said Charlotte van Kleef, who delivered a standout performance herself.

Van Kleef has been participating in the 3X3 Pro League for many years and looks forward to it every time. “I absolutely love it. It’s a great way to keep playing with your team when the 5-on-5 season is on hold. Plus, I’m a huge fan of 3x3 basketball, and I really enjoy the variety it brings compared to 5-on-5. The Pro League is very accessible, so people passing by often stop to watch. With the music and all the side events, it creates such an amazing atmosphere.”

By winning, Team Landsmeer not only claimed the national 3x3 title but also earned a ticket to the Nocco Sweden 3×3 Tour Finals in Stockholm. Unfortunately, due to other commitments, the team will not be able to attend.

Looking back on the season, Daud Bwefar from 3X3 Unites was very pleased with the success of the 3X3 Pro League. “At every stop, there was a great atmosphere, exciting games, and fantastic side events where the 3X3 Leaders played an important role. The concept is rock-solid, and the level of 3x3 basketball in the Netherlands keeps rising. At the same time, we know there’s still so much potential for growth. So, on to next year!”
