Winners Crowned at the 3x3 PRO Cup Final in Arnhem
What do you get when you bring together hundreds of basketball fans, international top players and dozens of young talents on a lively city square? A day in which everything 3X3 Unites stands for comes together: elite sports, street culture and community. During the final of the Rabo 3x3 PRO Cup, the heart of Arnhem transformed into the 3x3 capital of the Netherlands.
In the women's tournament, France U25 came out on top after a thrilling final against the Netherlands U25 (15-13). In the men's tournament, the title went to Red Star Belgrade, which, led by Dejan Majstorovic, convincingly defeated Team Utrecht in the final (22-13). The teams not only claimed the PRO Cup title; they also secured spots at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour and Women's Series during the 3X3 Festival, which will take place from June 19 to 21 at the NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam.
"I want to thank 3X3 Unites for the organization. This is the best tournament I have ever played in", said Miloš Cvrkota, player for Red Star Belgrade. "It was really cool to win against a Dutch team on this level and on this stage."
Cvrkota is already looking forward to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, for which Red Star Belgrade qualified. "I heard from one of my teammates that it is one of the best 3x3 World Tour events", he said. "He told me the atmosphere is amazing and that the crowd brings a lot of energy and support. You can really tell that 3x3 basketball is popular in the Netherlands. We want to show ourselves on the World Tour."
Yohana Ewodo, player for France U25, also looked back on the Rabo 3x3 PRO Cup and ahead to the 3x3 Women's Series during the 3X3 Festival. “It was our goal to win the PRO Cup and qualify for the 3x3 Women's Series. We achieved that, and it makes me very happy", she said. "The level at the PRO Cup was high, there were a lot of strong teams and the location was really awesome. Yes, I enjoyed it immensely."
A relaxed and vibrant vibe could be felt throughout the day on Arnhem's Market Square. The music, entertainment, exciting games and enthusiastic crowd created a true festival atmosphere, while players competed fiercely on the court and made new connections off it during the final day of the 3x3 PRO Cup, which consisted of three stops. Earlier in May, events had already been held in Vlissingen and Haarlem.
The crowd in Arnhem was treated to a strong field of participants. Besides Team Utrecht, the second team of the Netherlands, several international top players took part. Among them was five-time world champion Dejan Majstorovic, representing Red Star Belgrade. The men's competition also featured the Portuguese national team. In the women's competition, the national teams of China and Portugal participated, along with the Netherlands U25 team.
In addition to the 3x3 PRO Cup, the Rabo 3x3 Street League was also held on Arnhem's Market Square, the largest and most accessible 3x3 basketball competition in the Netherlands. Youth teams from different age categories competed against each other. The winners qualified for the 3x3 Street League Finals, which will be played during the 3X3 Festival. From the streets to the top.
